Flooding is possible - be prepared
This alert has been issued due to heavy rainfall on Wednesday in the Yorkshire Dales. The rain is expected to continue into the night and levels are now rising steadily on the River Ure. Forecasts of peak river levels are still uncertain, but we currently expect that the level at Westwick Weir will rise from its current level of 0.6m to around 1.5m by 6am on Thursday. It will then continue to rise and could reach up to 2m by midday Thursday. The level at Boroughbridge is currently 10.5m and will rise steadily through the night and could reach up to 14m on Thursday. We will continue to monitor the situation and update this message as forecasts change.
