Coronavirus (COVID-19): how we're protecting our flood warning service

for Flood alert in force now Mid Bristol Avon Area

Flooding is possible - be prepared

The overnight rainfall due to Storm Christophe has resulted in high river levels at the Bradford on Avon river gauge. There is flooding of low lying land and roads between Melksham and Bathford which will continue into Friday, 22/01/2021. The flood gates at Holt Road have been closed as the B3106 to Staverton is currently impassable. No further rainfall is forecast but river levels are continuing to rise and expected to peak at approximately 10:30 on Thursday morning. The peak level is not expected to cause flooding of properties. We are closely monitoring the situation and have our incident response staff on the ground to check the rivers and our flood defences. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded and refer to local authority website for local road closures. This message will be updated Friday, 22/01/2021, or as the situation changes.
