Flood alert for Groundwater flooding in villages surrounding Andover

Groundwater levels in villages surrounding Andover are high, but slowly falling. We expect that cellar flooding is ongoing in Appleshaw, Hatherden, Penton Grafton, Penton Mewsey and Kimpton. Road flooding is occurring at Deacon Road and Down Road in Kimpton, the main road into Penton Grafton, and the road from Biddesden to Appleshaw. In Thruxton, surface water flood risk continues. Sewerage network and septic tank impacts are ongoing across most villages. From today (24/04/2024) to Friday 26/04/2024, light rain is forecast in Hampshire. On Saturday 27/04/2024, there is potentially heavy frontal rain forecast, bringing between 10 and 45mm. Further rain (up to 15mm) is expected on Sunday 28/04/2024. Groundwater levels are expected to initially slowly fall. However, if heavy rain affects the area, then levels will begin to stabilise within the next week and could even begin to rise again. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. If you have pumps to help reduce water levels, please ensure that they are operating. This Flood Alert will be updated by 18:00 on Wednesday 01/05/2024.
