Flooding is possible - be prepared

Flood alert for Groundwater flooding in the Henley and Assendon area

Groundwater levels are high but stable at our Stonor borehole near Henley and Assendon as a result of recent rainfall. Groundwater levels are above normal for this time of year and have now reached a level where communities may be affected by groundwater flooding within the next few weeks. Groundwater levels remain sensitive to further rainfall due to saturated ground and high groundwater levels. Low-lying land, roads and cellars will therefore continue to be at risk of flooding. Due to the nature of groundwater flooding, this situation could continue for several weeks or longer. Avoid driving or walking through floodwater as there may be concealed hazards. We have staff in the area checking impacts on the ground and we are continuing to monitor groundwater levels. We will update this message next week by 03/05/2024, or as the situation changes.

Flood alert area: Communities at risk of groundwater flooding including Turville, Skirmett, Stoner, Middle and Lower Assendon and parts of Henley.
