for Flood warning in force now River Wye from Hay to Hereford

Flooding is expected - immediate action required

River levels have risen at the Bredwardine river gauge with levels continuing to fall at the Hay on Wye river gauge, as a result of persistent heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland is expected to continue. We expect flooding to affect properties and roads in and around Hay and Hereford areas including multiple stretches of the A438 between Letton and Willersley and Whitney on Wye. Road closures and diversions on the main A438 may be in force. Hay on wye peaked at 4.49 overnight Wednesday, 20/01/21, Predicted peaks at Bredwardine 6.5 to 6.6m, this afternoon Thursday 21/01/21. No further rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. We expect river levels to remain high until Friday, 22/01/21. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid contact with flood water. This message will be updated by 10am on Friday, 22/01/21, or as the situation changes.
