Flooding is possible - be prepared
We expect it to be windy tonight with further spells of rain. Consequently, the risk of flooding of roads and low lying land remains overnight, 21/02/2020. Low lying land and roads in the Crosby-on-Eden, Linstock, Carlisle and Rockcliffe areas may be affected. High river levels are possible on the River Eden, River Caldew, River Petteril, Durranhill Beck, Brunstock Beck, Gosling Sike, Little Caldew, Parham Beck, Rockcliffe Beck and their tributaries. We expect rivers to be at their maximum between 09:30am and 10:30am on 22/02/2020, after this they will start to fall and be back to more normal levels by Saturday evening. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 22/02/2020, or as the situation changes.
