Flooding is expected - immediate action required
River levels across the Calder Catchment have risen as a result of the persistent rainfall associated with Storm Christoph. Whilst levels at Horbury are starting to fall, they are expected to respond to this morning’s further rainfall and start rising again from around midday. Levels are expected to peak at around 6pm and will remain high for the rest of today (20/01/2021). Flooding of property, roads and farmland is expected (20/01/2021). Areas most at risk are properties around The Strand, Horbury. Our incident response staff are checking defences and we are closely monitoring the forecast. Please move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety and do not walk or drive through fast moving water. This message will be updated by 19:10 today, or as the situation changes.
