Flooding is possible - be prepared
River levels remain high as a result of heavy rainfall on Saturday 16.3.19. The level of the river Ouse in York peaked on Monday morning (18.3.19) at just under 4m and is now falling. The current forecast indicates that levels will continue to fall overnight Tuesday evening 19.3.19 through to Wednesday morning. The Foss Barrier is currently operating but we expect that river levels will fall below the levels when it is needed later on Tuesday evening. Some low lying footpaths and cycle paths will continue to be effected overnight. Our incident response staff are closely monitoring the forecast. This message will be updated on Wednesday morning 20.3.19, or as the situation changes.
