Flooding is possible - be prepared
This flood alert remains in force due to recent heavy rainfall associated with Storm Dennis. Levels on the lower Swale are currently falling slowly but are forecast to stop falling and begin rising very slowly on Tuesday evening 18/02/2020. This is in response to showery rain on the upper Pennines. We expect levels to remain high throughout Tuesday and into Wednesday 19/02/2020. Consequently, flooding of low lying land and roads is expected. We are closely monitoring the situation and our Area Incident Room is open. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded. This message will be updated in 8 hours, or as the situation changes.
