Flooding is possible - be prepared
This alert has been issued due to heavy rainfall on Wednesday in the Yorkshire Dales. The rain is expected to continue into the night and levels will start to rise overnight on the lower River Swale. The current level at Kirby Wiske is 1.3m and this could rise to 2m by Thursday morning. The current level at Crakehill is 1.7m and this could rise to 2m by morning. Further rises during the day on Thursday are expected, and we will continue to monitor the situation and update this message as new forecasts become available.
