Flood alert for Dorset coast at Poole Harbour

Tides are expected to be higher than usual due to the forecast windy weather conditions during spring tides.

Areas most at risk include Poole Harbour and tidal stretches of the Lower Frome and River Piddle.

The first high water peak level at Poole Harbour is forecast at 11:30 PM on 27/03/2024 with a level of 1.22 mAODN with south-southwesterly force 5 winds. The second forecast high water is at 11:00 AM on 28/03/2024 with a level of 1.24mAODN with south-westerly force 5 winds. (mAODN is height above average sea level - for more info refer to local tide tables.)

We are expecting higher than normal tides over the next 2 days and as a result we may issue further alerts/warnings.

We will continue to monitor levels closely.

Please be careful along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous.
