Flooding is possible - be prepared
River levels are high at the Hammoon river gauge as a result of the ground being saturated and reacting to rainfall. Consequently, the risk of flooding remains. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for tributaries between Sturminster Newton and Wimborne. Further showers are forecast over the next 24 hours, with more heavy rainfall forecast for thursday 20/02/20. River levels can rise very quickly in response to heavy rainfall. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and see the GOV.UK website for a 5 day flood forecast. This message will be updated by 17:00 on 19/02/20, or as the situation changes.
