Flooding is expected - immediate action required
River levels remain high at the Little Puddle and Briantspuddle river gauges as a result of the ground being saturated and reacting to further rainfall. High groundwater levels are adding to the river levels; consequently, the risk of flooding remains. We expect flooding to affect Alton Pancras, Piddletrenthide, Piddlehinton, Druce, Puddletown, Athelhampton, Affpuddle, Briantspuddle, Throop and Wareham including Purbeck View Park. Further light rainfall is forecast later on Saturday afternoon and overnight into Sunday which will sustain the current high river levels throughout the weekend. River levels can rise quickly in response to rainfall but we currently don't expect the Piddle to rise significantly in response to this rainfall. This message will be updated on Monday 24/2/20 unless the situation changes. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please can owners with property flood resilience equipment install it now and avoid using bridges over local watercourses.
