for Flood alert in force now Groundwater flooding in Hursley

Flooding is possible - be prepared

The groundwater level in Hursley is very high. Currently, we would expect some cellar flooding in the lower part of the village at South End Close and in the lower High Street. From later on this evening (Friday 14/02/2020) until Monday (17/02/2020) very heavy rain is forecast in Hampshire. Over the weekend we could see between 30mm and 60mm of rainfall. With 30mm of rain, the level could increase by 0.3m and may not alter impacts that significantly. With 60mm of rain (a month’s rainfall in 48 hours), groundwater would rise for the next 10 days and would affect a large number of cellars throughout Hursley High Street and the sewerage network. We continue to monitor the forecast. Please ensure that any pumps used to protect property can operate if required. This Flood Alert will be updated by Friday 21/02/2020.
