for Flood alert in force now Lower River Witham

Flooding is possible - be prepared

The lower part of the River Witham and smaller watercourses in the area remain very high. Areas downstream of the Lincoln area are most affected. Stay vigilant, keep off flood banks, avoid using low lying footpaths and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded. Further rainfall is forecast today, Friday 15th of November, and we expect river levels to rise again and cause further flood risk to this area. Our forecasts indicate that flooding to properties is possible and flood warnings remain in force. Grand Sluice in Boston is fully open to allow the maximum discharge of the River Witham out into the Haven. During periods of high tide, levels on the River Witham may increase as the river is unable to flow out to sea. We are monitoring weather forecasts and river levels, and have staff in the field. This message will be updated by Saturday evening, 16th of November, or as the situation changes.
