for Flood alert in force now Lower River Soar in Leicestershire
Flooding is possible - be prepared
River levels are forecast to continue rising at the Kegworth and Pillings Lock river gauges as a result of recent rainfall. Consequently, the risk of flooding remains. Areas most at risk are low-lying agricultural land and roads around Loughborough, Zouch, Kegworth, Ratcliffe on Soar to Redhill Marina, the A6006 at Zouch, Soar Lane Sutton Bonnington, Moor Lane Normanton, Station Road at Kegworth, Kegworth Road, and The Green Ratcliffe on Soar. Also Slash Lane at Sileby, the Mountsorrel to Sileby Road, the B5328 Cossington Road and the access road to Sileby Mill, and farmlands at Cossington, Sileby, Barrow, Quorndon and Cotes. Further heavy rainfall is expected for the next 48 hours. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and bridges near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 21/01/2021, or as the situation changes.
