for Flood warning in force now River Trent at Girton
Flooding is expected - immediate action required
River levels are forecast to rise at the Torksey river gauge as a result of Storm Christoph. Consequently, flooding of property is expected between 04:00 and 06:00 today, 22/01/21. Areas most at risk are access roads and properties in Girton. If levels continue to rise, the A1133 and High Street may flood, which could isolate the village. We expect river levels to remain high for the foreseeable future. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety and activate any property flood protection products you may have, such as flood barriers and air brick covers. This message will be updated by 03:00 on 23/01/21, or as the situation changes.
