Flooding is possible - be prepared
River levels are falling slowly at the Milford river gauge. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is expected to continue today Sunday 17 January 2021 and tomorrow. Flooding will affect low-lying land and roads adjacent to the River Sow between Great Bridgford and Shugborough, the River Penk between Coven and Stafford, the Sandyford Brook, the Rising Brook, the Ridings Brook and the Saredon Brook. Tomorrow is forecast to be mainly dry before more prolonged, persistent heavy rain is forecast early on Tuesday 19 through to Thursday 21 January 2021 when river levels will start to rise again. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are actively checking river levels and the weather forecast. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and bridges near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated tomorrow, Monday 18 January 2021, or as the situation changes.
