Flooding is possible - be prepared

River levels are rising at the Crew Green, Montford, Welshbridge, Buildwas & Bridgnorth river gauges as a result of persistent heavy rainfall. Flooding is affecting low lying land & roads adjacent to the river from Shrewsbury to Upper Arley. Hayes Basin, White Abbey, Leighton, Gravel Hill Lane in Shrewsbury, Coalbrookdale, Ironbridge and Bridgnorth may also be affected. Predicted Peaks:- Crew Green 6.3 to 6.6m Monday, 24/02/20, Montford 6.6 to 7.0m Monday evening, Welshbridge 4.8 to 5.2m Monday evening, Buildwas 6.4 to 6.8m Tuesday, 25/02/20, Bridgnorth 4.8 to 5.2m Wednesday, 26/02/20. Further rainfall is forecast over the next 48 hours. We expect river levels to continue to rise & remain high into next week. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers. This message will be updated by 9am Monday 24/02/20 or as the situation changes.
