for Flood warning in force now River Severn at the Showground and The Quarry, Shrewsbury

Flooding is expected - immediate action required

River levels have peaked and are now falling at the Welshbridge river gauge. However, flooding of property, roads and farmland continues. Flooding is affecting offices at the showground and Gravel Hill Lane. Welshbridge peaked at 4.85m on Tuesday 18/02/2020. Scattered showers are expected this morning with further prolonged rainfall forecast this afternoon and overnight 19/02/20. We expect river levels to remain high over the next few days. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated by 5pm on Wednesday 19/02/20 or as the situation changes.
