Coronavirus (COVID-19): how we're protecting our flood warning service

for Flood warning in force now River Severn at the Showground and The Quarry, Shrewsbury

Flooding is expected - immediate action required

River levels remain high but are now falling at the Welshbridge river gauge following last weeks persistent heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is expected to continue. We expect flooding to affect offices at the showground and Gravel Hill Lane. Peaks: Welshbridge peaked at 4.95m on Friday morning 22/01/2021. No further significant rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. We expect river levels to remain high for the next few days. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. Please avoid contact with flood water. This message will be updated by 9am on Monday, 25/01/21, or as the situation changes.
