for Flood alert in force now Upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck and Derwent Water

Flooding is possible - be prepared

Derwentwater Lake level remains high as a result of heavy rainfall overnight. Consequently, flooding of low lying roads, footpaths and farmland is possible. Low lying land and roads in the Seatoller, Stonethwaite, Rosthwaite, Grange-in-Borrowdale and Derwent Water shoreline areas are at risk. High Lake and river levels are possible on the River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck, Watendlath Beck, Derwentwater and their tributaries. Further showers are forecast throughout today (08/12/2019). This means the lake level will remain high throughout today and early next week. We continue to closely monitor the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and roads near Derwent Water Lake and other local watercourses. This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 09/12/2019, or as the situation changes.
