Coronavirus (COVID-19): how we're protecting our flood warning service

for Flood alert in force now Upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck and Derwent Water

Flooding is possible - be prepared

As a result of Storm Christoph the lake level remains high. Consequently, the risk of flooding remains. Flooding is expected to affect low lying land and roads in the Seatoller, Stonethwaite, Rosthwaite, Grange-in-Borrowdale and Derwent Water shoreline areas. High river and lake levels are possible on the River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck, Watendlath Beck, Derwent Water and their tributaries. River and lake levels are expected to fall but further rainfall is forecast overnight, 20/01/21 and into Thursday morning and as such still pose a flood risk. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near rivers and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated tomorrow, 21/01/21, or as the situation changes.
