Flooding is possible - be prepared

We expect it to be windy tonight with further spells of rain, and consequently flooding of roads and low lying land remains overnight, 21/02/2020. Low lying land and roads in the Buttermere, Lorton Valley, Cockermouth, Branthwaite, Bridgefoot, Camerton, Barepot and Workington areas may be affected. High river levels are possible on the River Cocker, Whit Beck, River Derwent, River Marron, Lostrigg Beck and their tributaries. We expect rivers to be at their maximum between 21:30 and 23:30 tonight 21/02/2020. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 22/02/2020, or as the situation changes.
